To be eligible to audition for the Shore Intermediate Band, you must
be a student at an affiliated school. In addition, you must be sponsored
by your band director or your private instructor.
Before you decide to audition, you must make sure that you are able to
attend all rehearsals and performances. Please review the calendar to see rehearsal
and concert dates. Illness is the only acceptable absence. Any other absence
will result in expulsion from the group.
Each student will be judge on the following criteria:
Articulation and tempo requirements are as follows:
Major scales:
- mm 80 minimum, tongued and slurred (except trombone and mallet percussion)
- rhythm is: quarter-note, six eighth-notes, quarter-note, six eighth-notes, quarter-note
Chromatic:
- mm 80 minimum, tongued and slurred
- rhythm is: all eighth-notes
Scales do not need to be memorized.
